our pillars

Global human rights front

GHRF

Discover how GHRF Sri Lanka systematically operationalizes its mission. Through these four core operational pillars, we transform constitutional principles into community-level enforcement, educational evolution, and institutional accountability.

Frontline Advocacy & Legal Aid

Securing Justice. Defending Dignity.

We provide uncompromised, free legal representation, immediate counsel, and strategic litigation support for victims of human rights violations, systemic discrimination, and institutional overreach. Our dedicated network of legal professionals works at the grassroots level to ensure that the law serves as a shield for the vulnerable, rather than a weapon against them.

  • Pro Bono Representation: Free legal aid for marginalized individuals facing unlawful arrest, detention, or workplace harassment.

  • Strategic Litigation: Filing Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions to challenge unconstitutional policies and establish progressive legal precedents.

  • Victim Support Framework: Ensuring immediate protection, documentation, and medical-legal tracking for victims of abuse.

Civic Knowledge (RTI & Digital Rights)

Democratizing Information. Safeguarding Privacy.

nformation is the foundation of accountability. We empower citizens to dismantle cultures of state secrecy through the active use of the Right to Information (RTI) framework. Simultaneously, we spearhead digital literacy initiatives to protect public-interest whistleblowers, journalists, and everyday citizens from arbitrary digital censorship, data privacy breaches, and state-sponsored cyber surveillance.

  • RTI Facilitation: Structuring, filing, and legally tracking Right to Information requests to expose public corruption and administrative delays.

  • Data Privacy Protection: Educating the public on their rights under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and securing personal digital footprints.

  • Digital Freedom Advocacy: Campaigning against arbitrary social media blocks, online censorship, and targeted cyberbullying of women and activists.

Human Rights Education

Fostering Literacy. Empowering Generations.

True systemic change begins in the classroom and the community hall. GHRF Sri Lanka designs and deploys progressive educational curriculums, interactive community workshops, and academic seminars across schools, universities, and rural centers. By cultivating high levels of media literacy and constitutional awareness, we build a highly informed populace capable of auditing power.

  • Youth & Academic Seminars: Engaging law students and youth networks in human rights jurisprudence and structural civic responsibility.

  • Media & Fact-Checking Literacy: Training citizens to critically analyze news, identify deepfakes/disinformation, and halt the spread of online hate speech.

  • Community Watch Empowerment: Establishing localized committees to detect and report child exploitation, domestic violence, and labor rights violations.

Equality, Peace & Solidarity

Dismantling Barriers. Cultivating Reconciliation.

We lead localized and international efforts to bridge historical fractures and build an inclusive society. This pillar is dedicated to systematically countering deep-seated systemic discrimination rooted in race, religion, caste, gender, and sexual orientation. Through truth-seeking initiatives and institutional advocacy, we secure long-term, sustainable peace.

  • Anti-Discrimination Campaigns: Strategic advocacy to protect marginalized communities and ensure equal opportunities in public and professional spaces.

  • Communal & Interfaith Harmony: Facilitating cross-cultural dialogues and community-building programs to eradicate systemic biases.

  • Transitional Justice Alignment: Supporting international and domestic human rights mechanisms focused on reconciliation, truth-seeking, and victim reparations.
